Flipadelphia- Highlights
On Saturday, November 16, 2013 PCG hosted it’s annual home meet, Flipadelphia. The turn out was great! The attendees were Syracuse University, Emory University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Cornell University, Temple University, Binghampton University, Pennsylvania State University, and The University of Maryland.
Here are some highlights from the meet:
- New members Caitlin Kaspar, Nikhil Nabar, and Sam Summer competed for the first time with PCG! It was Sam Summer’s first time ever competing gymnastics, and Caitlyn’s first routine since high school (she’s a grad student). Congrats guys!
- The UNC Men’s team competed some hilariously awesome beam routines. Yes, we meant men and not women
- Our very own men’s team placed first all-around!
- Cornell Women won the all-around
- It was the first meet held in our new facilities. What a great start to the year.
Thanks so much to the PCG board for organizing the meet, especially President James Sui and Meet Coordinator Jill Shueckler. To all team members who came early to set up, flashed scores, and cleaned up afterwards- we appreciate you. We would also like to thank the PCG alumni who helped make sure things ran smoothly. Last but not least, thank you to all the teams who came and competed. Club gymnasts keep the sport alive, and it’s great to see gymnasts from so many different ages and skill levels competing.
Check out all the photos we took below, and stay tuned for the highlights video!
FLIPADELPHIA 11/16/2013
PCG’s annual home meet will be happening this Saturday, November 16th at 1pm in Hutchinson Gymnasium. We are so excited to welcome eight teams to Penn for the competition. It will be the first competition for new members, and our first meet in the new facilities. Friends, family, and gymnastics enthusiasts are all welcome to attend. RSVP to the Facebook event here!
PCG Newbie Gifs
PCG is super excited to welcome lots of new members! They come from a variety of schools within the University, as well as from a variety of skill levels. Each new member, aka newbie, brings something unique and important to the team. There is a ton of potential; we can’t wait to see how they develop and grow throughout the season.
At Monday’s practice, Men’s Team Captain Bryan Manning was kind enough to record a few newbies and then generate these nifty gifs! Check them out, and you’ll be just as impressed by them as we are each week!
First Practice!
Hey Team!
After much anticipation, we are finally ready to begin practice!
The first practice will be Wednesday October 30th, 2013 from 7:30-9:30pm in Hutchinson Gymnasium on the second floor. Afterwards, practices will be held at this location every Monday and Wednesday 7:30-9:30pm.
If there is ever a cancellation (which typically occurs due to break or finals), you will be notified. The new facility also comes with a new set of rules/policies, so please check out the practice schedule tab for more information.
We look forward to seeing faces new and old!
Your Loving Board Members,

Penn Club Gymnastics is Having a GBM!

It will be a great chance for those interested in joining to meet board members as well as last year’s team!
Be sure to check out the Facebook event for more information.

Congrats Talia!
A long time member of PCG, Talia Buchsbaum, has graduated from Penn this summer (and more importantly PCG!). As we go back to the gym to prepare for a new season, Talia’s absence will be missed.
She has been a member of the team since 2006, having competed as an undergraduate and graduate student at Penn. This summer, she graduated from the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Her plans for are to travel-she’s going to Burundi, Africa -before working in primary care in Iowa!
We’ll miss you Talia, and wish you luck in all your future endeavors!
